Sam, Cole and Layne

~Cole Bryson

Cole is a graduate of North Greenville University with a degree in Communications and Broadcast Media. Cole has covered high school football in the Upstate of South Carolina for a near decade, formerly on the broadcast team for Boiling Springs. High School Football has been a passion of his as he has worked not only as the color analyst for Boiling Springs High School, but also a Saturday morning radio host. After eight years broadcasting on the internet, Cole has joined the team at ESPN Upstate as the new Voice of the Byrnes Rebels. Along with his work on Friday nights, he will also host the Saturday Morning Scramble from 8am to 10am on ESPN Upstate during football season where he and his team will recap the games that happened the night before while looking ahead to the big matchups the following week. During the week, Cole is the Digital Marketing Coordinator  for The Encouraging Word with Don Wilton, a non-profit broadcast ministry based out of Spartanburg. You can find Cole cheering on his Clemson Tigers & Dallas Cowboys during the fall.

~Layne Fowler

Layne serves as color analyst on Byrnes football broadcasts on ESPN UPSTATE.  Layne Fowler is entering his 20th year as a coach and 18th year as a teacher in Spartanburg District 5. He is the head Boys basketball coach and this will be his 10th season leading the boys after 6 years as the girls basketball coach. The Runnin’ Rebels won the AAAA boys basketball state championship in 2016.  Layne’s wife-Missy Fowler-is entering her 4th season as the head girls basketball coach at Byrnes and they have 3 children: Will(14), Colt(10), Samantha (8).

Sam Clark, serves as sideline reporter for the Byrnes Rebels football games on ESPN UPSTATE.
Sam is husband to Dr. Erica Clark and father to six year old Ellena Reece. Currently, Sam is a social studies teacher at Byrnes High School and will be coaching alongside Coach Fowler for the Runnin’ Rebels Basketball Program. Coach Clark is returning back to Byrnes after spending 4 years in Chattanooga, Tennessee teaching and coaching at Signal Mountain High School. When he is not supporting Byrnes athletic program, he likes to relax with his family fishing and hanging out on the lake. Go Rebels!
