Rory McIlroy Signs $100 Million Equipment Deal

The golfer enters into "long-term" deal with TaylorMade

Sports apparel giant, Nike, decided last summer that it was getting out of the golf equipment game. That move sent dozens of golfers scrambling to find a new equipment partner -- except for Rory McIlroy. The 28-year-old made it clear he would take his time to decide, and that he did, announcing this week that he's entered into a long-term deal with TaylorMade, reportedly in the $100 million range.

After spending nearly a year finding what worked best for him, the four-time major winner will now move to a TaylorMade driver, woods, irons, wedges, and ball. He is said to be testing TaylorMade putters, but will stick with his Odyssey for the time being. Up until the Masters, many had speculated that McIlroy would sign with Callaway.

As parent company Adidas continues looking to sell TaylorMade, this is the second, high-profile post-Nike signing. Back in January, Tiger Woods signed with TaylorMade. Both Woods and McIlroy will continue wearing Nike apparel and footwear.
