US Mens Soccer Fails to Qualify for World Cup
It's the First Time in 32 Years

The United States Men's National Team’s surprising defeat at the hands of Trinidad and Tobago, coupled with Panama’s victory against Costa Rica, means there will be no trip to the soccer's biggest stage in Russia next year. By the way, the USMNT had just a 3% chance of being eliminated.
That's right, next year's World Cup in Russia will be the first in 32 years not to feature the US Men's Team. While soccer is by no means the nation's premiere sport, the US has been competitive for decades. Just to put it all into perspective, take a look at this post from SportsCenter's Instagram feed.
