Week 6 of High School Football is here!

Cole’s Record: 46-12

Week 5: 8-1

Week 6 Games:

JL Mann at Woodmont: This Woodmont squad has been rolling lately, and this week should not be much of a challenge with JL Mann. The Patriots are struggling this season, and Woodmont is the much better team.

Cole's Pick: Woodmont 45, JL Mann 6

Westside at Laurens: Westside has not had a good start to the season under Scott Early. I do know that Laurens is 3-1 on the season, but they have not beaten any top teams. This game could go either way, as neither one of these teams are the best of the best. I like Laurens & their size to edge out Westside.

Cole's Pick: Laurens 28, Westside 27

Wade Hampton at Easley: Easley put up a good show against JL Mann, but have lost three games this season as well. Neither one of these teams will make a push in the post season, and Easley will edge out the Generals at home. Travis Miller & a somewhat new Wade Hampton staff are on the right track with this program, but they have a long way to go.

Cole's Pick: Easley 42, Wade Hampton 14

Dorman at Spartanburg: This rivalry game goes way back and is possibly the best rivalry in the entire state. Both of these teams have had legendary coaches over the years, with legendary players to go along with them. There are so many great stories about this rivalry, and I love the closesness of it in recent years. Dorman won last year 34-33 in one of the best Dorman-Spartanburg games ever, but I like Dorman to win a little more comfortably this Friday. Spartanburg has struggled on offense, and Dorman hasnt. I like Dorman to pull away in the 4th quarter.

Cole's Pick: Dorman 38, Spartanburg 28

Boiling Springs at Mauldin: This game on Friday is very important for both teams. Neither one of these teams will be fighting for the region crown, but they will be fighting to get into the playoffs. Mauldin played Gaffney so close and Boiling Springs has struggled on offense while their two wins came over Westiside & Riverside. I honestly could see either team winning, but the Bulldogs are going to have to be much improved from last week against Dorman. I really think this game will be close, but I like Mauldin to pull it out late.

Cole's Pick: Mauldin 28, Boiling Springs 21

Riverside at Byrnes: Not much to say about this one as Riverside has been bad over the last decade. Football is not their premier sport, so expect this one to get ugly really quick. Reggie Shaw told me that they were dressing the JV squad, so there will be subsitutes early and often in this one.

Cole's Pick: Byrnes 63, Riverside 0.

Gaffney at Hillcrest: Hillcrest has not performed as good as I thought they would have at this point in the season, but they still have a solid football team. Gaffney comes off of a loss to Byrnes in which they gave up 57 points at home. I like Gaffney to get back on track this week, especially if they get Stan Ellis back. Gaffney is the much more talented team.

Cole's Pick: Gaffney 38, Hillcrest 21

Greenville at Greer: Greer needs a win here as they are 1-4 on the season, while they will be going up against a solid Greenville team led by Greg Porter. This was one of the harder games for me to pick, and I still think it could go either way. Will Raheim Jeter have the breakout game we have all been waiting for? I think he does.

Cole's Pick: Greer42, Greenville 35

Broome at Chapman: This game was close last year, but wont be this year. Chapman has rolled through the first portion of this season while Broome has struggled, especially when it comes to giving up points. Broome's defense is in for a rude awakening as Chapman will roll behind Colasurdo & company.

Cole's Pick: Chapman 56, Broome 17

Chesnee at Southside: Southside is a very solid football team, but they have not been tested this season. The Tigers are 4-1 on the season while Chesnee sits at 2-4 under first year coach in Clay Lewis. Chesnee has been competitive in several losses, and I think they surprise Southside in this one. Southside's only loss comes to Eastside in a 38-21 loss for the Tigers. Chesnee comes off of a big win over Blacksburg, and I like Chesnee to pull off a close one this Friday.

Cole's Pick: Chesnee 28, Southside 24

Union at Clinton: Union County is 2-3 this season under Brian Thompson while Clinton holds the same 2-3 record. Union County has picked up wins over Broome & Greer while Clinton has picked up wins over Powdersville & Pendleton. I like Union to get their offense going this week against a not-so-good Clinton defense.

Cole's Pick: Union County 39, Clinton 19

Newberry at Woodruff: Newberry comes into this game led by legendary coach Phil Strickland with a 3-2 record while Woodruff also holds a 3-2 record coming into this contest. Woodruff had a BYE week after a tough loss to Chapman. I like Woodruff to bounce back in a close contest but I always expect a Phil Strickland team to counter with a great gameplan. This one will come down to who has the ball last.

Cole's Pick: Newberry 35, Woodruff 28
