Week 1 is here and it is time to briefly look at the games this week that we cover in the Upstate of South Carolina.

Spartanburg at Greer: Greer has a very good front seven, and will be ready to get after Zae Foster of Spartanburg. The interesting note about this matchup is that both teams are starting inexperienced quarterbacks. Zae Foster (Spartanburg) & Raheim Jeter (Greer) will both have much pressure in this game on Friday night. Raheim saw some of the best talent in Week 0 as he faced the Byrnes Rebels. I think this will be a low scoring game where both defenses will shine.
Pick: Greer 21, Spartanburg 14

Byrnes at Northwestern: This game is harder for me to predict just because of the unknown about Northwestern. The Trojans are under first year HC in Page Wofford and will run an Air-Raid type offense this season. Byrnes has momentum after a big win over Greer. Because I will be calling this game, I will not make a prediction, but the Rebels should be able to take care of business on Friday.

Dorman at York: No Bobby Carroll, this is a much different York team that has been rebuilding for a few years. Dorman showed last week that they have the ability to score and score fast, and this week should be quite the same. Dorman will take care of business on the road.
Pick: Dorman 44, York 14

Greenwood at Gaffney: Gaffney dominated this game last year in every area of the field, holding Greenwood in the negative offensively and with the retuners that Gaffney has back, this game should be much of the same. Undre Lindsay (Gaffney Quarterback) is back at the reigns for the Indians and I expect him and this offense to have a big game.
Pick: Gaffney 35, Greenwood 0

Westside at Boiling Springs: Last season, the Bulldogs were victorious in this matchup, but this is a much different Boiling Springs team than we saw last season. The Bulldogs replaced both coordinators, did not return Aaron Thomas at Quarterback, and are running a ground attack offense. Two quarterbacks have left the team this off-season, and reports show that Charles McFadden (RB) has been taking reps at QB for the Bulldogs. With the new-ness still setting over the Bulldogs, I think Westside steals on on HWY 9.
Pick: Westside 21, Boiling Springs 14

Woodruff at Broome: Bradley Adam's squad got a win last week over Chesnee, while the Broome Centurions took care of business at Central, winning 20-14. This should be a good game, and I think Broome continues in their winning ways.
Pick: Broome 27, Woodruff 20

Chapman at Seneca: The Panthers may just be one of the best teams in the state of South Carolina, especially on offense. Last week, Chapman tore through the Union County defense putting that game away at the half. However, Union did storm back when Chapman put in the second string, but Colasurdo (QB) was able to finish them off late in the game. This Chapman offense is super talented, and there will not be many games this season I pick them to lose.
Pick: Chapman 48, Seneca 28

Christ Church at Chesnee: Chesnee fell short last week in a close one with Woodruff, but I really like Chesnee to right the ship this week and get their first win of the season under Coach Lewis. Christ Church defeated Dixie last week 33-7 so the Cavaliers may have more momentum heading into this game, but I think Chesnee pulls out another close one.
Pick: Chesnee 28, Christ Church 27

Dixie at Landrum: The Cardinals, led by Jason Farmer, are 0-1 on the season after falling short last week to Blue Ridge. Dixie also coming off of a big loss, both teams need a confidence boost and both are looking for their first win. Landrum's Cooper Gentry has a game under his belt, and I think you will see some growth this Friday night.
Pick: Landrum 30, Dixie 21

Union County at AC Flora: Collin Drafts, HC at Flora got his team started in the right direction last week as they opened up with a win over Beaufort, 37-21. Union is looking to rebound after a tough loss to the Chapman Panthers. This could be a high scoring affair, but I like Union led by Glover to throw one more punch than the Falcons.
Pick: Union County 42, AC Flora 35
