Week 3 is here! I went 11-1 last week in my picks and am 23-7 for the entire season.

Area Games Friday:

Broome at Union: The Centurions are 2-1 on the season, with their only loss coming to Woodruff. The Yellow Jackets are looking for their first win of the season after a very tough stretch of non-region games. This is one of the harder games to pick this week due to the records of the teams and the talent that Union County DOES have despite their record. This one in my opinion is going to be a very close game. Cole's Pick: Union County 28, Broome 27.

Seneca at Woodruff: The only information I have on Seneca is that they loss to a very good Chapman team a few weeks back, but there are many teams who will find a L on their slate after they play the Panthers. The Bobcats are winless on the season while Woodruff may be the more seasoned team. This game will be close for the most part, but I like Woodruff to pull away late in this one. Cole's Pick: Woodruff 31, Seneca 20.

Blue Ridge at Chapman: Blue Ridge is a much improved football team from last season, but their stellar start ends this Friday night. James Thurn and the Tigers are going to have to have their best game in program history in order to get a win this week. The Panthers on the other hand are a well oiled machine that cannot and will not be stopped. Cole's Pick: Chapman 59, Blue Ridge 0.

RS Central at Chesnee: Brad Hutchins and the Hilltoppers of RS are 2-1 on the season with wins over McDowell and Patton. They are coming off of a 42-0 loss to Polk County. Chesnee will be an offense they are not used to seeing. I like the Eagles in this matchup. Cole's Pick: Chesnee 34, RS Central 14.

SCA at Landrum: The Cardinals of Landrum are coming off of a tough loss to Wahalla while SCA is 2-0 on the season with wins over Thomas Sumter and Oakbrook. The Warriors are an imporved football team while the Landrum Cardinals have taken a step back from last season. Landrum, however, is the better team and Cooper Gentry will have a big night for the Cardinals. Cole's Pick: Landrum 35, SCA 21.

Mauldin at Greer: Mauldin has played two opponets this season; Hillcrest and JL Mann. Those two teams are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Hillcrest is a team that I expect to be very competitive in Region III-5A while JL Mann isnt known for their football. Mauldin defeated Mann and lost to Hillcrest. The Yellowjackets of Greer are 1-2 on the season with a win over Westside and losses to Byrnes and Spartanburg. I like Greer to continue to feed Miller Dearmond the ball on offense and I like Greer to edge out Mauldin this Friday. Raheim Jeter has seen some great competion through his first three games and I expect Greer to show much more confidence this week. Cole's Pick: Greer 28, Mauldin 21.

Mallard Creek at Gaffney: Mallard Creek comes to Gaffney with a interesting resume. They opened the season with a tie versus the Silver Fox of Dutch Fork in a game that had to be called due to weather. To be toe-to-toe with the reigning champs is impressive, so I expect Mallard Creek to come ready to play. The Mavericks also have wins over David Butler & Rocky River, two teams out of North Carolina. Gaffney will be the second best competetion they have faced this season. Gaffney is 2-0 with wins over Greenwood & Union County. I like this to be a game until the finish. Cole's Pick: Gaffney 31, Mallard Creek 28.

Boiling Springs at Dutch Fork: The Bulldogs are coming off of a brutal loss to the Panthers of Chapman, and it doesnt get any easier. Rick Tate's squad has yet to find a consistent passing attack this season and this Friday will be a very tough test for the Bulldogs. It was only three years ago when these two teams were playing for the state championship. Boiling Springs experimented with Dodd at QB last week in the 2nd half against Chapman, so it will be interesting to see what the Bulldogs offense looks like this week. Dutch Fork is the heavy favorite in this game, and I like the Silver Fox to get it done. Cole's Pick: Dutch Fork 56, Boiling Springs 7.

JL Mann at Greenville: Greg Porter has had some challenges along with a hint of success this season at Greenville. JL Mann should not be the toughest test for the Red Raiders. JL Mann is 0-2 on the season and this Friday will be another loss in my opinion. Cole's Pick: Greenville 42, JL Mann 10.

Woodmont at Greenwood: Jet Turner's is coming off of their first loss of the season to a very good Hillcrest team and there is no shame in that loss. Dan Pippen's Greenwood Eagles are 2-1 with wins over South Aiken and Aiken and their loss coming from Gaffney. I like this to be a fairly close contest for the most part this Friday in Greenwood. Cole's Pick: Greenwood 35, Woodmont 21.
