Chapman High School is no stranger to success as of late with large help from the quarterback position. Mikele Colasurdo, who followed in the footsteps of State Champion Colton Bailey, has helped lead Chapman on continued post-season success. Mikele, a two year starter for the Panthers has announced his commitment to Georgia State on Tuesday. The Panthers were his top choice, but the Spartanburg ties were also a heavy weight in the decison making process.

"Wofford was close because of how well I knew the coaching staff and I had emotional ties, but I felt like i made the decision that was the right one," says Colasurdo. Josh Stepp, the assistant tight ends coach at Georgia State was the mian contact for Colasurdo throughout his recruitment. "I have a good relationship with Coach Stepp and I was able to meet with the offensive coordinator (Brad Glenn) and we immediately hit it off." Colasurdo feels that he will get a shot from day one at Georgia State as two other quarterbacks have transfered out. Mikele will be joining the Panthers in January, after graduating from Chapman in December.

As far as his hometown Chapman Panthers, Colasurdo feels as if anything but Columbia will be a dissapointment this season. "We have had a great summer and we have grown alot closer. We may not have fully trusted each other towards the end of last season but we all know that our expectation is to get back to Williams Brice."
