Rhein Gibson Wins BMW Charity Pro-AM

Tournament shortened to 54 holes

The annual BMW Charity Pro-Am at Thornblade was shortened to 54 holes due to inclement weather, but that did not keep Rhein Gibson from getting his first Web.com Tour victory.

While the 33 year-old Gibson did not have a win under his belt heading into this weekend, he had three top 10 finishes, including a fourth place finish at last week’s event in Raleigh, North Carolina.

His win at the BMW Charity Pro-Am this weekend earned Gibson enough points in order to earn his PGA card. He will now be eligible to play on the PGA tour next season.

Gibson remained focused throughout the rain delays, bad weather, and a late push from Michael Miller to win the tournament and a check for $126,000.

This was the second time in 3 years that the BMW Charity Pro-Am was shortened to 54 holes due to weather. Hopefully next year when the tournament returns to Greenville for its 20th anniversary, the weather will be better.
