Tragedy struck the MLB community when Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Starling Marte announced the sudden death of his wife, 32-year-old Noelia Brzoban, this May.

Marte said the experience was one of "indescribable pain" in an Instagram post following Noelia's passing. Fortunately, Marte recently shared that playing baseball again is helping him deal with the loss.

“I’m feeling OK,” Marte said in July (via Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com). “And I know I’m going to feel better being able to focus on something else.”

On Saturday, Marte hit his first home run as a member of the Diamondbacks -- a solo blast off of Padres starter Chris Paddack -- and dedicated the moment to Noelia in an Instagram post later that night.

Former teammate Gregory Polanco remembered Starling and Noelia, as a couple, with great fondness.

"He's just such a positive person and that's why he and Noelia made such a good match," Polanco said (via Sanchez). "She was the same way. You walk into their house and you feel the love and positivity."

She was in the hospital awaiting surgery on a broken ankle when she passed, according to a report from RADIO.COM MLB insider Jon Heyman.

Both the Diamondbacks and the Pirates, Marte's former team, released statements on Twitter regarding the tragic passing.

The couple had three children together: two sons, Starling Jr. and Smerling, and a daughter, Tiana.
