Earlier this week, NFL writer, former NFL executive, and weekly 94WIP Morning Show guest Michael Lombardi tweeted a bombshell report that the Jaguars are "extremely close" to trading top pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue.

Now, three days later, and still no trade.

"So I got a tip the other day from a general manager, not involved in the conversation, and he told me he thought within the next two days a deal would be made," Lombardi explained to Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Friday.

"This morning I got a text from a GM saying that [Jaguars general manager] David Caldwell was very upset with my tweet. He has since said that nothing is imminent, which is a complete lie. [Ngakoue has] been involved in trade talks, numerously. He has to be! If [Caldwell is] doing his job, the guy's not gonna play for him. He's got $17.7 million his cap. He's gotta make a trade.

"So I think all of the teams are involved," Lombardi continued. "The problem is, Angelo, you have to take on the contract at $17.7 million. You have to clear that kind of cap room. You can't re-do his contract because he's a franchise player. So, it's going to take a little bit of ingenuity. Do I think the Eagles could be involved? Yeah, I do. He's a much, much better option than [Jadeveon] Clowney."

Earlier this offseason, Ngakoue was flirting with the Eagles pretty hard on social media, implying he'd like to go to Philly.

Lombardi believes the 25-year-old pass rusher would be the perfect fit in Philly.

"He's from Maryland," Lombardi said of Ngakoue. "He's right from the area. So, obviously he wants it. He would be perfect for the scheme. He would be ideal for what they do. He plays wide-9. He can get up the field. It would give them an added strength to their team, and their strength is their defense."

At just 25-years old Ngakoue has already topped at least eight sacks in all four of his seasons in the NFL, totaling 37.5 sacks in four years. He has 31 quarterback hurries, 29 quarterback knockdowns and 78 total pressures in the last two seasons. That is an extremely impressive level of production for any player, let alone one that is only 25. There aren’t many players on the defensive side of the ball in the entire league, regardless of position, with a brighter future than Ngakoue.
