The Columnist for the Raleigh News & Observer joined Kyle Bailey today on the Clubhouse to recap the Hurricanes season, and the situation going on in Chapel Hill over the past few days.

The first thing that Kyle asked to Luke was to recap the Hurricanes season as they fell in 5 games to the Bruins in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Luke told Kyle that it was not a blowout series, the Hurricanes could not stand up and big boy hockey with the Bruins. Luke said despite that the Hurricanes still have a good young core for the modern game of hockey, but they need better goal tending and they need to find a way to be built to play in the playoffs.

Then Kyle asked Luke to expound upon his latest article on how the decision to have only players on-campus throws away the student-athlete name and how they are now only athletes and Luke said:

"The NCAA's argument has always been that these players our students who just happen to play sports. What we've seen now with the pandemic makes it very clear that makes it not the case. There are students who are being told to go home, and athletes being told to stay here because they can make it safe for them. To me, this was an absolutely clarifying moment of obviously they are in a completely different class from the average student and it's time to stop pretending their not."
