ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - The St. Louis Cardinals will not be traveling to Detroit this week and there have been a total of 13 players and staff members test positive for COVID-19 in the last week.

An official statement was provided to KMOX and other media outlets:

Here's a brief recap of what's been happening since the Cardinals last played a game on Wednesday, which was a 3-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins:

• Friday's Cardinals game in Milwaukee was postponed after the team learns of two positive tests.

• Saturday's game is also postponed after four more tests come back positive – some were players and some are staff who travel with the team. There are also four other tests – a mix of players and staff – that came back with inconclusive results. They were retested.

• Sunday's doubleheader is postponed as the team awaits the latest round of test results. Report by ESPN says there's at least one more positive test, which could be from the person or persons who's previous tests were inconclusive.

MLB recently approved doubleheaders to be played as only seven-inning games, in an effort to help schedule more make-up games. Which it appears the Cardinals will need to take advantage of.

This is a breaking news story that will be updated.
