Carolina Drops 5th Straight

Panthers held scoreless in the 4th

December 10, 2018 - 2:21 pm

Five shorts weeks ago the Carolina Panthers were 6-2, neck and neck with the New Orleans Saints at the top of the division, and riding a three game winning streak. Now, half way through December, the Panthers would be lucky to find themselves in the wild card round.

Carolina has lost 5 straight games, giving way for the Saints to clinch the NFC South Division title this past Sunday.

The Panthers’ woes started when they were blown out 52-21 during a Thursday night matchup with the Steelers back in November. Nothing seemed to go right for Cam Newton and his fellow teammates that night, and they have yet to correct things since.

The 5 game losing streak has featured losses to 3 teams with losing records - Detroit, Tampa Bay, and Cleveland. Their Most recent loss being to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Carolina running back, Christian McCaffrey, had a pair of rushing touchdowns in the first half, but Cleveland’s star wide-out, Jarvis Landry, would answer with a pair of first half touchdowns of his own. The two teams would go into the locker rooms tied at 17 after 30 minutes.

The Panthers would go on to only score 3 second half points.

The Browns took their first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter, when Nick Chubb scored on a 4-yard touchdown run. The Panther would not only fail to re-take the lead, but they never scored another point.

The Browns went on to win 26-20, knocking Carolina’s overall record to 6-7. With only 3 games left in the regular season, it is unlikely the Panthers will be playing post season football.

The Panther’s will look to snap their losing streak next week at home against their division rival, the New Orleans Saints, a game you can hear on Classic Rock 101.1, Monday, December 17th at 7pm.
