Cam Newton Questionable for 2019

Dealing with shoulder injury.

The Carolina Panthers will consider sitting Cam Newton out for the entire 2019 season, if it means a full recovery from a right shoulder injury.

The injury cost the former NFL MVP the final two games of the 2018 regular season.

Carolina started 6-2 but would go on to only win one more game.

It was obvious that Newton’s injured shoulder, which is believed to have been injured during their match up with the Steelers in week 9, was negatively impacting his ability to throw the ball down field.

At several points during the Panthers 2018 campaign, backup quarterback, Taylor Heinicke, was brought in to throw Hail Mary attempts.

Heinicke eventually took over all quarterback duties in week 16, and led the Panthers to a 1-1 record during the final two weeks.

Despite Heinicke, The Panthers may decide to draft or sign another quarterback as a possible replacement for Newton, should he miss any time.

The Panther’s 2019 season begins in September, giving Newton 8 months to recover.
